Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.

01
Information you give us

When you run a Deal Check

  • Vehicle details: year, make, model, trim, mileage, and the asking price you were quoted
  • Your US ZIP code, which localises the market comparison
  • The VIN, if you choose to give one
  • Your email address, which we need in order to send you your result
  • Your first name, if you choose to give one
  • For a paid Full Deal Check: the listing link, and any notes you add to your order

Elsewhere on BFA platform

  • Contact form: your name, email address and message
  • Blog comments: the name and email address you enter, together with your IP address and browser information, which our website software records with every comment

We never ask for a Social Security number, a driver’s licence number, or credit or financing application details, and you should not send them to us.

02
Payment information

The Deal Score is free. Payment applies only to the $9.99 Full Deal Check.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number, expiry date and security code are entered on Stripe’s own payment page and go directly to Stripe. They are never sent to, seen by, or stored on our servers.

What we receive back from Stripe and keep is limited to a payment reference, the amount, the payment status and the date it was paid, so that we can match your order and issue a refund if one is due. Stripe handles that information under its own privacy policy.

03
Information collected automatically
  • Cookies. We set a small number of cookies needed to run our sites: to serve pages, to hold the reference for a check you have run so your results page can find it again, to remember your details if you leave a comment, and to keep you signed in if you have an account with us. They carry no name, email address or score, and none of them are used for advertising.
  • Your IP address. It is used while your request is being handled to protect our forms from abuse, and appears in standard server logs kept for security and troubleshooting. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
  • Where you arrived from — the referring page and any campaign tags in the link you clicked, so we know which of our pages and posts actually help people..
  • Embedded content. Pages containing content loaded from other platforms receive your IP address as part of that request, and they may set their own cookies.

We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on our sites.

04
How we use it
  • To run the free Deal Score and show you your result
  • To produce your $9.99 Full Deal Check and send you the link to it
  • To email your result, your receipt, your report, and replies when you write to us
  • To take payment, issue refunds, and keep the accounting and tax records we are required to keep
  • To protect our sites from abuse, fraud and automated scraping
  • To check and improve the accuracy of our scoring and our reports

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not use your email address for marketing.

05
Who we share it with

We share information with a small number of service providers — for payment processing, hosting, email delivery, and the data behind our valuations. Each receives only what it needs, and none of them may use your information for their own purposes.

  • Your email address and order reference go to Stripe, our payment processor, along with the amount. You enter your card details on Stripe’s own payment page.
  • Your email address, and your first name if you gave one, are used to send you your result and your report.
  • The vehicle details and your ZIP code are used to produce your valuation. Your name and email address are never included.
  • Standard request data, including your IP address, is handled in the course of hosting and delivering our sites.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers, advertisers or lead buyers. We will disclose information if the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

06
Your report link

Your Full Deal Check report is published at a private web address that we email to you. It cannot be guessed.

There is no password on it, so anyone you forward the link to can read the report. Treat it as you would a receipt you would not post publicly. The report page itself does not display your name, email address or ZIP code. If you think your link has been shared further than you intended, email us and we will take it down.

07
Email we send you

We email you your Deal Score result, your receipt, and your Full Deal Check report. These are part of the service you asked for, and we send them because you asked for them.

We do not send marketing or promotional email, and we do not add your address to a mailing list. If that ever changes, we will ask for your agreement first and include a way to unsubscribe in every message.

08
Links to other sites

If you follow any of the link that’s not under the ownership of BFA (biddingforautos.com), you are on someone else’s site and their privacy policy applies rather than ours. We do not receive any information about what you do there.

09
How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and no longer.

In practice that means we keep your Deal Check submission and the report produced from it while it is useful to you and to us for checking the accuracy of our scoring; we keep records of payments for as long as tax and accounting rules require; and we keep messages you send us for as long as needed to deal with the matter.

We are still setting formal retention periods, and we will publish them here once we have. In the meantime you can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will.

10
Your choices and your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, or send you a copy of it.

To exercise any of the rights, email paul@biddingforautos.com from the address you used with us. We will respond within 45 days. We may ask you to confirm a detail from your order first, so that nobody else can make a request on your behalf. Deleting your information also deletes any report we produced for you, so save a copy first if you want to keep it.

11
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to Do Not Track, and we do not currently change what we collect when we receive one. We do not sell or share personal information in any case, so there is nothing for a Global Privacy Control signal to switch off.

12
How we protect it

Our sites are served over an encrypted connection, and access to the information we hold is limited to the people who need it to run the business.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that a determined attack will never succeed. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

13
Children

Our sites are meant for adults buying a vehicle and are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

14
Where your information is held

We operate from the United States, and our providers store and process information in the United States. If you use our sites from outside the US, you are asking us to handle your information there, where privacy laws may differ from the ones you are used to.
